SCAOHN

Our objective for Wisdom in the Winery 2022 is to provide all participants with information that helps us perform better, feel good, and present the information in such a way that we can share this information with colleagues, friends, and family so that all can benefit from improved health outcomes.

Our first speaker will be Monika Fischer, RN, NP  Former President of California State chapter of Occupational Health Nurses and a Fellow of AAOHN. She has done just about everything you can in Occupational Health including direct care, case management project management and has dedicated her professional career to keeping employees safe, healthy and on the job at the city of Glendale, and also created her own consulting company. Being a lifelong learner, Monika has developed a knowledge base in wines and wellness lectures. She will be presenting her talk on the health benefits of wine.

Our second presenter will be Mary Boyle, PhD, professor of Cognitive Science at UCSD. She will be presenting the topic “What is the Most Effective Dietary Pattern?… According to Science”.  As a society, we are bombarded with slick marketing campaigns that claim they are based on science, and a flood of articles that claim to review scientific literature and offer advice that promises to give you boundless energy, a flawless complexion, and the physique of a 23-year-old. Learning how to critique nutrition studies helps us separate the helpful from the junk. And trust me, there is a lot of junk science and junk reporting.

We must provide a headcount to the Winery early this year, so please let us know that you will come!
