JOB DESCRIPTION:

Occupational Health Registered Nurse needed for an ongoing per-diem contract opportunity with Yoh’s well-known client’s headquarters located in Downtown Los Angeles, CA.

 

This job is only on an as-needed basis located at a clinic that offers occupational, primary, and preventative care for employees of a large corporation. Job starts February 26th. We also have additional openings in Torrance, Burbank, San Diego, & Goleta!

Top Skills You Should Possess:

  • Active/unrestricted Registered Nurse license in state of California
  • Drug Screen Collector & Breath Alcohol Technician Certifications
  • Trained in spirometry (ie NIOSH Certified)
  • Must have previous experience in: Occupational Health, Emergency Medicine, Urgent Care, Primary Care, Family Medicine, School Nursing, or Corrections type setting
  • Recent clinical experience and strong first-aid skills

What You’ll Be Doing:

  • Nursing assessment, triage, treatment, and education for employee health concerns
  • Post-offer exams for new hires
  • Ambulatory care such as treating sore throats, ear aches, rashes, pink eye, etc.
  • Provide wellness materials/information
  • Provide medical testing such as vitals, EKGs, pulmonary function, blood glucose, blood pressure, cholesterol, vision and hearing screening, etc.
  • Drug testing and spirometry
  • Assist with DOT Medical Exams for DMV purposes
  • Respond to emergencies onsite and provide emergency medical care as-needed

What You Need to Bring to the Table:

  • Ability to work on an as-needed basis between Monday and Friday, 7:00am to 3:30pm.
    • Shifts needed so far: Mon Feb 26th through Fri March 1st with potential to extend another week
  • BLS certified
  • Excellent interpersonal skills

The Impact You’ll Make in this Role
As an Occupational Health Nurse, you will have the opportunity to tap into your curiosity and collaborate with some of the most innovative and diverse people around the world. Here, you will make an impact by:

 

  • Providing direct care for injury and illness and/or referring to community healthcare provider as necessary
  • Leading case and care management planning for occupational and non-occupational illness and injury, collaborating with vendor(s) or appropriate parties to determine return to work/disability management plan 
  • Planning implementing, and evaluating required or recommended medical surveillance and fitness for duty programs according to protocols and ensures appropriate follow-up of results
  • Leading health and well-being initiatives at the site.  Assesses, plans, implements, and evaluates health promotion programs for plant population, including appropriate immunizations
  • Documenting worker medical encounters in appropriate systems, maintaining proper documentation while preserving medical confidentiality according to 3M and medical practice standards

 

Your Skills and Expertise 
To set you up for success in this role from day one, 3M requires (at a minimum) the following qualifications:

 

  • Associate’s degree or higher in Nursing (completed and verified prior to start) from an accredited institution
  • Two (2) years of clinical nursing experience in a private, public, government or military environment
  • Current, unrestricted Registered Nurse license in CA; or ability to readily obtain
  • Two (2) years of experience with Electronic Health Record (EHR) systems

 

Additional qualifications that could help you succeed even further in this role include:

 

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution
  • Experience working in a Manufacturing/Production environment providing direct delivery of nursing services to workers
  • Experience in determining return to work / disability management plans
  • Knowledge and experience with disability management, basic ergonomics, Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), Health Information Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) and state privacy acts, Family and Medical Leave Act (FMLA), Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA), applicable Workers’ Compensation statutes, applicable Nurse Practice Act, and medical surveillance regulatory requirements are needed
  • Certification(s)/willingness to obtain:

o Council for Accreditation Occupational Hearing Conservation

o National Institute of Safety and Health (NIOSH) Spirometry training

o American Board of Occupational Health (COHN, COHN-S and/or Case Management)

o Current Basic Life Support (BLS) CPR certification (that includes AED)

 

Work location:

  • Corona, Oak Hills, and Monrovia, CA

 

Travel: May include up to 5% domestic

Relocation Assistance: May be authorized

 

Must be legally authorized to work in country of employment without sponsorship for employment visa status (e.g., H1B status).
