SCAOHN

Happy New year!

Hope everyone is healthy and happy and that 2023 will be a great year!

April conference will be here before you know it, so register today!! Occupational Health is such a small specialty, that I think it’s important to get to know one another.  There are many ways we can get CE’s and many ways to get free CE’s, but only one way to get to know other nurses and health care workers that share your concerns and challenges.  Participating in face-to-face conferences is a way to meet and develop relationships that can help your professional development.

Nurse Practitioners (NP) should be aware that AB 890 passed last year, allowing NP’s to practice without standard protocols.  The California Board of Registered Nurses (BRN) have a new application for those of us that want to take advantage of this freedom with a new application process.  Hopefully it’s not as complicated as it initially appears.  https://rn.ca.gov/applicants/ad-pract.shtml

I want to thank Sharon Weissinger for stepping up to be the new President.  I know she will do an awesome job.  I want to thank the board members for their patience and hard work.  Volunteers are absolutely necessary to make professional organizations work and we have some of the best! Thank you to all the members who have stuck with us over the past difficult years, I know it’s going to get better.

Respectfully

Julie Rochefort
